Can you help this fucking Pangolin find Hollywood superstar hunk actor Brendan Fraser! Grab your mummy bibles and your digging hammers because we're headed down to Egypt, the windy city!

Can you help this goddamn pangolin solve this heiroglyphics?

Maybe Brandon frasesurre is in this goddamn pile of rocks better check it out! What do you think you plebs

Oh no this isn't Brnadan Fraser you idiots this is either a cool mummy or a blind guy who broke a lot of bones

Hey look this little piece of shit finally got himself a torch and a pith helmet! Time for some real adventure boy I feel bad for all the goddamn monuments he's going to discover

Godammit, Pangolin! That's not the amulet that summons Branden Frassueres friend Corky Romano, that's the amulet that summons VIN DIESEL! Dummy!

A comic I wrote while I was at UF. I am thinking about reviving the idea, probably doing a rewrite and re-illustrating it all. But I still like the concept, or at least where I can go with it. I had fun with this project, it taught me a lot about formatting (it is very clear here that I need to work on the economy of dialogue and word balloons).  Don Ault and his essays and lectures about Carl Barks and his use of spatial arrangement motivated me to try different things with the panels, which is something I hope to pursue further.

A project for my illustration class at UF. I was struggling at the time (mentally mostly) with being overly literal in my work, so I tried to veer into typography and minimalism with much of my work in that course. I decided to redesign the book cover for the novel House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, the story withink lending itself to abstract or simplified expression.

History Channel has always sucked. But it used to suck because it was just a bunch of bland WWII documentaries. Now...well...I never thought things could be worse than Ancient Aliens. The above comic is in reference to the show America Unearthed, a show about a man disturbing archaeological sites in hope of proving absurd theories. Still better than American Pickers

Okay maybe this is a little more nihlism. I hope you've read Dostoevsky's Demons!

I like H.P. Lovecraft but his follow through sometimes leaves something to be desired.

Kate Beaton (creator of Hark a Vagrant http://www.harkavagrant.com/ my favorite comic strip) retweeted this once which means it might not suck!

This was my final project for the illustration class that I took while at UF (taught by comic artist Leela Corman http://www.leelacorman.com/). I remember being super stressed out over the project because the entire semester I felt creatively blocked (FEEEEL MY ANGST) and I wanted to prove to myself that I could do something up to my vague but punishing standards. I worked for hours, stressing, and chipping away, finally to say "fuck it" toss all my other ideas aside and paint these. It was strange because these came very quickly, and I personally think they look okay. I guess like there is some moral about just letting it all go and just working, but I prefer to interpret it as an example of Toho's experiments with psychic children that will one day lead to free advertising!

No one actually likes Anguirus, but you gotta respect a blue collar monster just doin' his job.
Mothra is a giant moth summoned by two miniature twin Japanese women, which might be the most consistent backstory for any of the Kaiju in these films.

I used to rent these movies pretty much weekly when I was in elementary school, but Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II was the only one I owned on VHS. It also has my favorite line of dialogue from any of the movies.
(Officer: It says your hobbies include...Pteranodons?!?
Main Character/Doofus: Yeah! You know, flying dinosaurs! *makes flapping motion with arms)

Rodan (along with Mothra and potentially Anguirus) was sort of friendly with Godzilla and would occasionally help him fight more nefarious Kaiju, though I shall not here seek to postulate on the nature monster politics.

Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla is the least memorable of the 90s series, to me, though I love his design with all of my cold wretched heart. Also: He wasn't a playable character in Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee, so fuck you Atari circa 2004).
Gigan has swords for arms and a chainsaw on his stomach. He was far from the strangest thing to happen during the '70s films.
"Gamera is really neat
He is filled with turtle meat
He is our friend Gam-er-a!"
Godzilla vs King Ghodorah is the pinnacle of cinematic achievement. Movies should have stopped trying after it was released, but such is the hubris of man. Now there are four Alvin and the Chipmunk movies.

This comic is mostly just puns, please, please forgive me. Also I hope you appreciate the line work on the veins.

Oh and I guess NSFW? Depending where you work. If you work in a sex toy factory you're probably fine. Or at a Barnes and Noble.

I figure I might as well start off with the comics that are at least tangentially related to the blog name. They were originally titled "the Adventures of Hipster Diplodocus," but that's a bit of a mouthful and I was afraid making fun of hipsters had become cliche (which I suppose is giving in to the toxic irony that drowns us all!).

These comics don't have much Dada going on in them but they do have a lot to do with my brief stint as an art student (a world I thankfully never got to far away from). Originally the title came from an idea for a children's book that me and my friends (including one Alina Shafii, her website is here http://www.alina-shafii.com/ GO TO IT) had, though which has sadly not come to fruition.

If you're wondering why I keep rambling up here, I read in a book that one should document their process as a way of connecting with a potential audience. I'm still getting used to doing this so bear with me if I sound like an idiot.

(PSA: If you'd like to learn about DADA this video is a good place to start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqkIJ0odFxA)

I tried to only use actual dinosaurs for these comics and was pleased that fashion trends suit Argentinasaurus quite well

Fun fact: I do not own suspenders but do have a healthy respect for their work.

Smoking is awful, I lost two grandparents to it and it smells bad, but sometimes those fucking anti-smoking ads where they try to make it all badass or straight-edge cool with vine stars make me want to obliterate my lungs.

People who try to argue with the crazy campus evangelicals are just freshmen trying to get laid.
